ICON — legal

icon Documentation

Welcome to icon, a tool for launching memecoins on pump.fun on behalf of TikTok and X (Twitter) creators. This guide explains how icon works for both launchers (people who create a token) and creators (the TikTok and X creators who earn and claim fees). icon is a software product operated by Icon Ltd. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, X/Twitter, pump.fun, Solana, or Reown/WalletConnect. Last updated: August 22, 2026.

What icon Is

icon is a web app that helps you launch a memecoin on pump.fun, a third-party protocol on the Solana blockchain, and tie that coin's creator fees to a specific TikTok or X (Twitter) creator.

There are two kinds of people who use icon:

  • Launchers: You create a token through icon. You choose the name, ticker, image, and description, and you name the TikTok or X creator who will receive the coin's creator fees.
  • Creators: You are the TikTok or X creator a token was launched for. You claim your fee wallet by proving you control your account, then withdraw or export your funds.

icon is software only. Trading happens on pump.fun, not on icon. We do not give financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and nothing here is an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy or sell any asset.

When you launch through icon, we generate a custodial Solana wallet on the backend for the named creator and set it as the token's on-chain creator-fee recipient on pump.fun. We hold that wallet's encrypted key temporarily, until the creator verifies and takes control of it.

How Launching a Coin Works

Launching a coin takes just a few steps. Here is the full flow.

1. Connect your wallet

You connect your own self-custodial Solana wallet through WalletConnect (powered by Reown). icon never takes custody of your personal wallet; you sign everything yourself.

2. Enter your token details

Provide a name, ticker, image, and description. You can also add optional links (for example, a website or social handles).

3. Name a TikTok or X creator

You must name the TikTok or X (Twitter) creator the token is for. This is required. icon generates a custodial Solana wallet for that creator on the backend and sets it as the token's on-chain creator-fee recipient on pump.fun. Creator names and handles are used for identification only, and naming a creator does not imply that they are involved with, aware of, or endorsing the token.

4. Make an optional initial buy

If you want, you can include an initial buy of your own token as part of the launch. This is optional.

5. Sign the transaction

You review and sign the creation transaction with your connected wallet. Nothing goes on-chain until you sign.

6. Your coin goes live

Once the transaction confirms, your coin is live and tradable on pump.fun. Tokens are created using the Token-2022 standard on Solana mainnet.

You are responsible for the legality of launching a token that names a given creator, and for complying with your local laws.

Where Creator Fees Come From

pump.fun charges a creator fee on trades of the token, and routes that fee to the wallet set as the token's creator-fee recipient. Because icon sets the named creator's custodial wallet as that recipient, the creator fees accrue there.

Fees are generated by trading activity on pump.fun in two phases:

  • On the bonding curve, while the token is still in pump.fun's initial pricing phase.
  • After graduation to the AMM (automated market maker), once the token moves to a liquidity pool.

The exact fee percentages are set by pump.fun and can change over time, so we do not quote specific numbers here. For current rates, see pump.fun's own fee schedule and documentation.

Fees accrue on-chain regardless of whether the creator has claimed the wallet yet. Nothing is lost by waiting; the funds simply build up in the custodial wallet until the creator takes control.

How a Creator Claims Their Fees

If a token was launched naming you, here is how you claim the fee wallet. You prove you control the named account, and nothing more is required. The proof step depends on your platform.

X (Twitter) creators

  • Visit icon.family/claim and click "Sign in with X".
  • Authorize icon through X's official login. We receive your verified handle directly from X — no code to paste, no password shared with icon.
  • If a coin was launched naming your handle, your fee wallet unlocks instantly.

TikTok creators

  • Visit icon.family and enter your TikTok username.
  • Copy the unique verification link we give you (it looks like icon.family/<code>).
  • Paste that link, as plain text, anywhere in your public TikTok bio.
  • icon scans your public bio and confirms the link is there.
  • Once verified, you get access to your fee wallet.

You do not need a large following, a verified badge, or a business account. Plain text in a public bio works for everyone. After we confirm your bio, you can remove the link if you like.

What You Can Do After Verifying

Once you have verified control of your account, the fee wallet is yours to control. You can:

  • Collect and sweep the accrued creator fees into the wallet.
  • Withdraw all the SOL to any wallet address you choose.
  • Export the wallet's private key so you can import it into another Solana wallet app.

A small amount of SOL is kept in the wallet to cover Solana network (gas) fees, so your transactions can go through. This is a technical necessity of using the blockchain, not an icon charge.

Once you export the private key, you are fully responsible for it. Anyone who has the key controls the wallet, so store it securely and never share it.

Custody and Security

Until a creator claims their wallet, icon holds it in a custodial arrangement. The wallet's private key is generated and encrypted server-side. It is revealed only to the creator after they verify control of their account.

We hold this key temporarily and for one purpose: so that a creator who has not yet claimed can later take control of the fees earned in their name. Icon Ltd. is a software provider, not a custodian for investment purposes, a broker, an exchange, or a money transmitter.

Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Lost keys and mistaken transfers generally cannot be recovered. Once a creator exports the key and takes self-custody, security of that key is entirely their responsibility.

Trading Happens on pump.fun

You cannot trade tokens on icon. icon is only the launch and fee-claim tool. All buying and selling of a token happens on pump.fun, a separate third-party protocol.

When you want to view or trade a token, icon links out to its page on pump.fun. icon is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by pump.fun, and we do not control pump.fun's protocol, fees, or availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is icon affiliated with TikTok, X, or pump.fun?

No. icon is operated by Icon Ltd. and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, X/Twitter, pump.fun, Solana, or Reown/WalletConnect. Creator names and handles are used only to identify who a token's fees are for.

What if the creator never claims?

Nothing is lost. Creator fees keep accruing in the custodial wallet on-chain until the creator verifies and claims them.

Do I need followers or a business account to put the code in my bio?

No. The verification link works as plain text in any public TikTok bio, regardless of follower count or account type.

Is there a fee to launch?

You pay the standard Solana network costs and pump.fun's costs for creating and trading a token, plus a tiny top-up of SOL that seeds the creator's wallet so it can later pay its own network fees.

What network does icon use?

Solana mainnet, using the Token-2022 standard.

Can I trade on icon?

No. Trading happens entirely on pump.fun. icon links you out to the token's pump.fun page.

A Note on Risk

Memecoins are extremely high-risk. Their value can go to zero, and you can lose everything you put in. No returns are promised or implied by icon or Icon Ltd.

There are also technical risks inherent to blockchains and third-party protocols: smart-contract and protocol risk on pump.fun and Solana, key compromise or loss, and the irreversibility of on-chain transactions. Lost keys and mistaken transfers cannot be recovered.
